About this Website

Hello, my name is Tama and I really like to mountain bike. This in itself is an understandable thing but I also have a slightly obsessive evangelical side to my nature which has seen me involved in the New Zealand mountain bike scene since 1994.

In mid 2009 my body fell to pieces for a year so I pretty much stopped doing bike stuff. I've now found myself in the position of getting back riding but not having any outlet for my enthusiastic ravings about how riding singletrack is one of the bestest things on the planet.

Which brings me to this website. Having previously run Vorb, New Zealand's most popular cycling website for 9 years I have no illusions about how much time and effort can be eaten up by an all singing, all dancing interweb experience and have no current desire to recreate such a monstrosity.

So I decided to focus on something that really inspires me – new cycling tracks. The plan is that every fortnight I'm going to post up a story about a recently created or revamped piece of track in New Zealand.

Not just singletrack but jump parks, skill areas, downhill race courses, cycleways and anything else rideable. The general idea is to inspire you to get out and ride, inform you of new rides in your area, celebrate the efforts of the track builders at all levels and give a bit of an insight into how and why tracks are constructed.

If you want to follow this project I'd recommend signing up to the MFLA Facebook page.

Let's see where this takes us...
